Club Soccer for Everyone

CLUB MISSION

We will break the pay-to-play model, create access, deliver focused coaching and mentoring, and improve the lives of Dayton youth through soccer.

BACKGROUND
2022 Shield.png

The youth soccer landscape in the United States and, by extension in the Dayton region, is dominated by a pay-to-play model that makes the sport too expensive for many families. Even in the youngest age groups, competitive club soccer can cost $500 to $1000 or more per year. Therefore, access to the higher levels of competitive soccer has long been the purview of families with the financial means to be involved. An additional byproduct of this model is that most clubs are located in affluent areas, usually quite far from the urban core — a soccer desert of sorts.

In late 2019, a group of volunteer organizers developed a vision for a new model that would create access to competitive soccer — financially and geographically — for all families. With the support of sponsors, participation fees would be significantly subsidized. A partnership with a local organization that already serves the urban core with athletic facilities was also a key component. Finally, the participation of passionate volunteers at all levels, from administrators to coaches to trainers, was also an integral component.

CLUB SPONSOR

We found a passionate partner in CareSource and their Dayton Region leadership team. Our mission to create affordable access in Dayton’s urban core aligns closely with their efforts to create a healthier, more prosperous Dayton community with more opportunities. With their help, and the help of many individual and family sponsors, we can offer a season of competitive soccer for $100 or less. This includes coaching, training, uniforms, league fees and tournament participation. healthier, more prosperous Dayton community with more opportunities.

In addition to CareSource and the many families who support our club, we are grateful for our other business sponsors including UBS, Grunder Landscaping and Miller Valentine Group.

CLUB PARTNER

The formation of our club aligns with the Salvation Army Dayton Kroc Center’s vision of providing a safe gathering site for Dayton youth and fulfilling the athletic potential of all children, all while keeping costs low and affordable. Our partnership with the Dayton Kroc Center allows our athletes to train and play games at the incredible Kroc Park soccer fields in Dayton’s urban core. In addition to facility access, the Dayton Kroc Center also provides back-office support, site supervisors, scholarship opportunities and other services to the club at no cost.

WHERE WE ARE NOW & WHERE WE ARE HEADED

Today, over 150 girls and boys enjoy competitive club soccer across ten different teams. As we complete our third full year, we look to intend to expand even more. Long term, we envision 180-200 girls and boys playing competitive soccer, mostly from the ages of 8 to 14. We are seeking new sponsors and coaches to help us expand and create affordable access to soccer.
